Allegra Hart, Founder of Hartspace & SpaceLifts ... Invites you to Create More Elemental Balance and Seamless Beauty in your Home or Office!

The concept of soulmates is generally applied to relationships, but New York City Feng Shui Designer Allegra Hart believes you can have a "soul-mated" career path. Mozart came into the world to create music, Baryshnikov to dance, and Pavorotti to sing. Allegra believes she came in to heal spaces with beauty and balance and to raise the awareness of her clients in the process.

Ten years ago, Allegra's own Feng Shui consultation changed her life forever. She recalls, "It was as if a light bulb was switched on. I knew this would be my path." All her talents, abilities, education and life experience fed into this art. It was a perfect fit that allowed her to fulfill her desire to share her gifts and talents with others. Her father, an artist, introduced her to the beauty of our landscapes and the treasures within our museums. Although he passed away when Allegra was 17 he left her a rich legacy of talent and a deep connection to Mother Earth.

Allegra Hart received a B.F.A. from Moore College of Art Design. The focus of her postgraduate studies included Interior Design as well as various healing modalities.

After discovering Feng Shui and experiencing its benefits, Allegra was on the Feng Shi fast track. She participated in the first Feng Shui summer school in the U.K., then began seeking out diverse Feng Shui masters around the world. Among those who have mentored her and contributed to the unique alchemy of Hartspace and SpaceLifts are Denise Linn (Interior Alignment), William Spear, Eric Dowsett (Environmental Clearing), Roger Green, Lillian Too, Mary Dennis (Feng Shui & Interior Design) and Jon Sandifer.

In 2000, Allegra founded Hartspace, a Manhattan based Feng Shui & Design consultancy which embraces both Eastern and Western approaches. With her refined sense of aesthetics and design, Allegra guides her clients to create energetic shifts with color, bobjects and images more often than with traditional Feng Shui enhancements. With each consultation, clients receive not only their specific Feng Shui profile including their success directions, but also a wealth of resources and enhancements to balance their spaces and achieve their goals. Also available during a consultation is environmental cleaning.

The Bagua

I love the term "Harmonic Abundance" which would imply all your Guas are Happy ..flowing with Abundance! I'm always wishing people Harmonic Abundance because it covers all human Aspirations. ! Your home is a vortex of energy ...each Gua is a vortex in relationship with the other eight... ...interdependent. Fortunate Blessings ...come in many forms.. Chi must have room to move, play, meander.....breathe! That's why Clutter is such a HUGE issue ...because It can block flow, create stagnation ...bring an Aspiration to a halt! Everyone has some clutter...pockets...even moi! But awareness is power ..we have free will so we can act on it and shift the energy! We carry thought forms and contain a frequencies of energy that influence the Feng Shui of our home or workplace.

Bathroom

Before—The Window here is intact and bath products are exposed on open shelving.
After—The Window having been removed due to construction next door, is remedied by introducing more of same stone tiles for the alcove where the window once existed. This created a seamless transition and more Spa-like appearance. A teak door was also designed to conceal the bath products and compliment the teak shower floor.

Bedroom

Before— The Window here is intact, offering Eastern views, sunrises, natural light and fresh air.
After—With the Window now removed due to construction next door, a large Autumn Landscape Photo with depth has been hung in its place as a remedy. This image offers both a sense of expansion and connection with Mother Nature. Additional overhead lighting was also introduced with dimmer capability.

Kitchen

Before—Here the kitchen is totally open to both the living room and dining room with little attention to beauty.
After—The Shoji Screen offers a graceful separation, introducing more serenity and elegance. Now, the kitchen counter and some appliances are no longer in view. Certainly, if high end appliances and attention to detail are in place, you may choose to leave every thing open.

Bedroom

Before—Here you see a bedroom with open bookshelves facing the bed. Ideally a bedroom's focus is about sleep, serenity and romance. In cities where space is at a premium and rooms multipurpose, creativity is invaluable. Preferably books should be less abundant in a bedroom and topics more relaxing or uplifting rather than work-driven or angst producing!
After—For an easy cost effective remedy a curtain was created, concealing the books, softening the landscape, but still allowing access. This adjustment is particularly beneficial at night as it supports more relaxation, romance, and deeper sleep. The fuchsia bed cover introduces more warmth and the fire element.

Living Room

Before—Here you see a small T.V. exposed at all times.
After—As an enhancement, a second partition was created to sit directly in front of the original, able to slide left or right. Now the T.V. Is concealed when not in use and a beautiful painting with depth is in view, creating a sense of expansion, adding more beauty and interest to the room. Also, Privacy can be provided to occasional guests, as a home office located behind the partition offers a Murphy Bed.

Living Room Partition - Close Up

Before—The Partition here is moved to the left, revealing the larger T.V.
After—The Partition, now closed, conceals the T.V. and offers a lovely painting as the focal point, conducive to entertaining or providing a more elegant presence.

Home Office

Before—Here the Window is intact, offering Eastern views, natural light, fresh air and cross ventilation.
After—Once the Window was removed, due to construction next door, a wood wall was created to connect with the existing wood wall to its right, offering a seamless, elegant transition. To balance this new design element the closets, originally a soft grey, were faux painted a rich metallic grey. Additional lighting was introduced to make up for the loss of natural light and a large Autumn landscape photo was placed against the back wall to provide color, depth and more life.

Staging for Condo Sale - Kitchen

Before—In Feng Shui, the Entry is known as "The Mouth of Chi", where the energy enters, and is considered very important in a home or business. Here is where a mood is created and "intention" placed. On entry, the kitchen in view, is unadorned with basic appliances. Neither location nor it's dull appearance is auspicious!
After—Despite a small budget and one day to Stage, a colorful collection of fruit, olive oils and a little greenery in a fiery vase were dispayed to create a sense of welcoming and life. It's Interesting to note, that with this group of products all five elements were introduced with color alone. This will also allow potential buyers to visualize themselves living and preparing food in this apartment.

Staging for Condo Sale - Dining Room

Before—Here the Dining Room appears dull. The heavy window treatment diminishes light and looks dated. The Mirror, although attractive, is poorly placed as it reflects primarily, a blank wall and the kitchen. Ideally, mirrors are best utilized when reflecting views, art or an object of beauty.
After—With the heavy window treatment now removed, more natural light is provided, creating a more open and contemporary feel. The mirror has been relocated to the living room and replaced with a painting introducing some missing elements, particularly fire, which was sorely missing. The bowl of yellow pears on the table further brightens the room and adds more life!

Staging for Condo Sale - Entry of Living Room with Hutch & Mirror

Before—The Hutch and two Botanical prints are a bit dull and small in scale in relationship to the size of the room. The dominant elements here are Earth and Wood but thankfully there is a white ceiling and trim, the Metal element, the reductive element for Wood. Note the heavy window treatment to the right.
After—As you can see, the large Mirror, relocated here with the Turquoise Vase, creates a more dramatic presence in the room.. The mirror now reflects more light, terrace and city views rather than a blank wall and the kitchen. The pop of color in the vase with tiny white blossoms introduces more life and creates a connection with Mother Earth, so critical for city dwellers. Note the difference now that the heavy window treatment has been removed, offering more natural light and a more contemporary look.

Staging for Condo Sale - Living Room

Before—The Living Room looks dull, heavy, earth and wood dominant. There are water elements expressed in the glass side and coffee tables. The Metal element is introduced with the light fixtures, table frames and white ceiling, but there is no fire represented here. The Botanical Prints are also too small in scale for the size of the room and furniture.
After—Here the Living Room offers more Balance by introducing the Fire Element with the furniture, accessories and imagery. The art prints now are proportionate to both the furniture as well as the scale of the room. The tree adds life in the corner and according to the Western approach to the Bagua is well placed in the Wealth area of the living room.
